Susan Springman is a Senior Project Manager for the Mullins Group, an over 50 year old Dane County based family owned real estate development and management business specializing in commercial and multi-family properties.  The firm’s primary holdings are in Madison’s urban core.

Springman is a Madison native and University of Wisconsin-Madison graduate.  Her professional career has spanned executive level positions in the private, public and nonprofit sectors with an emphasis on economic development, downtown/urban development and real estate.   Her passion has been revitalizing downtown Madison as evidenced by her professional and community work.

Springman’ s career started as a Legislative Assistant to a  Wisconsin State Senator staffing a Senate Subcommittee on Small business that studied how legislative policy impeded or facilitated small business growth.  That experience led her to become the Executive Director of what is now known as Downtown Madison, Inc. (DMI) where she worked with city officials on the planning and construction of the State Street Mall/Capitol Concourse and other downtown advocacy issues.  Springman has served on DMI’s board for over 20 years and continues to do so today. She later joined Mayor Joel Skornicka’s staff as his Mayoral Assistant and oversaw his economic development and planning efforts.  These experiences led her to become the Vice President of Development and Leasing for the Munz Corporation, a local real estate development company where she established a commercial division for the company and oversaw its leasing activities for 14 years.  Governor Tommy Thompson later appointed Springman to serve as his Administrator of Buildings and Police Services where she oversaw the State of Wisconsin’s real estate portfolio including the State Capital and Governor’s residence.  Her division was responsible for over a billion dollars in real estate assets and had over 500 professional employees, including a large building trade sector.  Springman later rejoined the private sector as President of Executive Management Inc., where she was project manager of University Square, a 1.1 million square foot, private and public mixed use development constructed in the heart of the city and University campus.

Springman joined the Mullins Group in 2009 where she assists ownership with commercial development projects, property management and leasing activities.   Springman is also the owner of her own company, Springman Real Estate LLC.   Springman has been a licensed commercial real estate broker for over 30 years.

Springman couples her professional career with community service having served as a Board Director or President of numerous local organizations including the YWCA, Madison Community Foundation, Hospice, Inc., Madison Development Corporation, Walden Homes and Madison Civic Repertory Theater and the Madison Club.    She currently serves on the Board of the Greater Madison Visitor and Convention Bureau, Downtown Madison, Inc, the Downtown Business Improvement Board and Smart Growth.   Springman was also one of the founders of Tempo Madison, the Madison Commercial Broker Group and Downtown Madison’s Business Improvement District.  Springman is a 15 year Director on the Park Bank Board.
